What
is Cosmetic Dentistry?
The
term "Cosmetic Dentistry" is used to define a myriad of procedures
that are specifically designed to improve the appearance of teeth.
These procedures range from ultra-conservative re-contouring and
bleaching, to techniques involving the placement of synthetic "enamel
substitutes" to change the color, shape, size, and position
of teeth. Dr. Blank will help you decide on the types oF changes
you would like to make, and recommend the most conservative procedure
available to help you meet your needs!

What is a crown?
A crown is a restoration made by a specialized laboratory that completely covers the prepared tooth. These are primarily used when the teeth have large fillings or cavities in them, or their position needs to be "altered" to give the illusion of straightness or symmetry.

What
is a veneer?
A veneer is a restoration also made by a specialized laboratory
that primarily covers the front part of the tooth. These are used
when the teeth require color or shape changes but are basically
healthy (without large restorations or cavities)
What
is an Onlay?
An onlay is a lab processed restoration that is used on back teeth
when the damage caused by decay or fracture is too large to place
a filling, but not large enough to require a crown. Because the
new adhesives are so strong, the only actually unites the remaining
walls of the tooth, giving it the strength it once had before the
damage was done!
What
is a bridge?
A
bridge is a “glued in” alternative to removable dentures
to replace missing teeth. Crowns are fabricated over the remaining
teeth, or on implants, beside the missing tooth/teeth. These crowns
support the “dummy tooth.” This non-removable option
can give the look, feel and function of natural teeth.
